WORK PORTFOLIO: First Balfour
One of the joys of being a copywriter is finding yourself with an uncanny mix of accounts whose industries lie on opposite ends of the spectrum.
One minute I was all about sweeteners, and the next I found myself trying to write about aqueducts.
This is not to say that having First Balfour, a construction firm, on my plate wasn’t fun. In fact, it really was.
Becoming First Balfour’s social media copywriter initially intimidated me because their business is light years away from the stuff I’m used to writing about. I couldn’t imagine my cat sweater and pink socks-wearing self writing about cement mixers and boulders.
But the longer I worked on this account, the more I realized that it’s not as rigid as I thought it would be. I learned that the construction industry actually serves a human purpose — like granting jobs and building infrastructures that serves a lot of businesses and people.
With lead-generation and job applications as our KPIs, I had to craft content that could help humanize First Balfour’s works and services.
Among the digital advertising work I’ve done for them are content planning and Facebook ads.
Last December 2019, my agency wrapped up its partnership with First Balfour on their 50th Anniversary Gala Night Event. Yet another event project I worked on!
The gala event brought in First Balfour’s executives and business partners to celebrate all the meaningful work the company has carried out through its 50-year run.
The key material I had to produce for this project was First Balfour’s corporate AVP for their 50th anniversary milestone.
This job included countless revisions and lots of long hours, but it was satisfying to see the product.

First Balfour will always be among my list of favorite clients to date. Working with them was such a great opportunity. I really cherished rendering my copywriting services for them because it’s not everyday that I’d get to work with clients as lovely as them.
